Eating disorders in the fitness industry, with Carly from WorkEDout

Published on: 21st October, 2020

Please remember that no episode of the MyoMinds podcast can be used as a replacement for medical advice and/or care.

Carly is one half of the duo (Alongside Leah) with set up the campaign WorkEDout. They are fighting to raise awareness and education surrounding eating disorders in the fitness community.

In this episode, we learn about Carly and Leah's story and the barriers of a PT and client relationship when an eating disorder is involved. We also touch on the research that they completed, finding that half of the PT's they asked had experienced disordered eating at some point.

Carly gives some advice for PT's who experience a client with disordered eating and together we also share our experiences of talking about mental health for the first time.

I really enjoyed this conversation, to find out more about the WorkEDout campaign check out their website: https://workedout.co.uk/
